The Intruder and the Alarm

intruder [ɪnˈtruːdə] n a person who enters a building, grounds, etc., without permission

This last week we have had an intruder in our home. Once in awhile it happens when the kids leave the back door open...but last Friday the intruder got in on her own.

Luckily for me we have an alarm system. We got a great deal, no monthly fees, no batteries, no secret codes to punch in...just one little protective....Yorkie!

That's so great! She sure was trying hard too. It's just too blasted hot or something.

Araya-isms

Araya is our sweet little 8 year old who says the darnedest things! I don't ever want to forget them so I'm going to do a side blog collection of them.

~ We bought Araya a new scripture bag a few months ago. That Saturday night she asked, "Can I take my stripper bag to church tomorrow?" Scot and I looked at each other to make sure we were both hearing the same thing.

~ I was having a bad migraine one day and Araya asked me what was wrong. I told her I had a bad headache and she asked, "Is it spanking?" I thought for a second, repeated what she had said back to her and she confirmed. I pondered a few more seconds and said, "Do you mean pounding?", to which she replied, "Oh, yah, pounding".

~ One afternoon Gidget had torn up something and I got mad at her. Araya asked me if I was angry at Gidget. I told her yes, I am so mad. Araya thought for a second and said, "No you aren't, I can read your brain". (Go brain reader Araya!)

~We took the kids to the Renaissance festival a week ago. We had kept it a surprise but when one of the kids figured it out and spilled the beans, Araya came to me and said, "I know where we are going." I asked her where and she said, "to the rescanance vegetable." .... o.k. to the rescanance vegetable we go.

We took the kids to Red Robin and the kids started doing the jingle...Red Robin...Y.U.M.M. So the rest of the day I could hear Araya singing it....except it went like this.... Red Ramen...Y.U.M.M

Araya called to talk to her Dad Gary on his birthday. He loves to talk to her (and why wouldn't he??) but after a little bit she is pretty much done....so Scot and I are eating dinner and we hear this from her while talking....
*Exhausting deep sigh* Can I hang up on you now? My arm is getting tired. Scot and I did one of those double takes and burst out laughing. Fortunately Gary loves her to pieces and I'm sure was not offended. Oh how blunt our little one is.

While driving in the car with Araya she decides to strike up a conversation:
Araya: So how are you doing?
Me: Good, how are you?
Araya: Good
Araya: What are you doing?
Me: Um...driving?
Araya: Do you have to keep your eyes on the road?
Me: Yep
Araya: Because if you don't we'll have to go to the HOPISTAL....yes you read that right, it was not a spelling error. HOPISTAL.
